Used Flatbed Trailers
Pre-owned flatbeds for budget-minded hauling, with tips on what to inspect.
A used flatbed can be a smart way to get a capable work trailer into your operation for less money. Because flatbeds are simple, open designs, most of their condition is easy to see if you know where to look. Farmers, ranchers, builders and weekend haulers across Utah County often find that a well-maintained pre-owned flatbed does everything they need.
Inspecting a used flatbed starts underneath. Check the main frame rails and crossmembers for cracks, bends and heavy rust, and look closely at welds near the hitch, spring hangers and stake pockets. Walk the deck for soft, rotted or broken boards. Read the tire date codes, spin the hubs to listen for bearing noise, and test every light and the brakes. Finally, make sure the VIN on the trailer matches the title. Visit us in Salem or call (435) 776-6528 to look one over.

Frequently asked questions
What is the most important thing to check on a used flatbed?
Start with the frame. Deck boards, tires and lights are relatively easy to replace, but a bent, cracked or badly rusted frame is a much bigger problem.
How do I tell if wheel bearings are worn?
With the wheel off the ground, try rocking it top to bottom and listen for grinding as it spins. Play, noise or a hub that runs hot after a short drive can signal worn or poorly greased bearings.
Is replacing deck boards on a flatbed a big job?
On most wood-deck flatbeds it is a manageable repair, but it adds cost and time. Factor it into your budget if several boards are soft or broken.
Do you take trade-ins on used flatbeds?
